There is an uncomfortable silence I know well. The Odoo implementation “finished.”
Technically, everything runs smoothly. But in daily operations, there are more spreadsheets than invoices in the system.
The false diagnosis: “Lack of training.”
The real diagnosis: Zero adoption.
Don’t fool yourself. Running an 8-hour training session on Go-Live day is like learning to drive by watching a YouTube video and then being thrown into rush hour downtown. It doesn’t work.
The pattern is always the same: The team is “too busy to use Odoo.” What does that really mean? It means they need to invoice, ship, or purchase NOW, and if the ERP doesn’t respond at the speed of their urgency, they go around it. They go back to Excel, which never fails.
The warning sign you shouldn’t ignore:
“The system works fine, but I need Excel to understand what’s really going on.”
That’s a data leak the size of a truck.
The uncomfortable (but real) solution:
This is not fixed with more PDF manuals. It’s fixed with surgical support.
- Step back into the mud: Fix real cases that just happened, not the perfect demo example.
- Protected time: If you don’t set aside time to use Odoo, urgency will always win.
- Adapt or die: If a process in Odoo is slower than Excel, don’t blame the user. Adjust Odoo.
You don’t need your team to know more Odoo. You need Odoo to fit better into your team’s day-to-day work.
